Gearbox feels slow to shift and jerks a bit, should I worry? - godfreylane - 10-15-2026 For about two weeks my car has been doing something strange and I keep telling myself it will go away. I drive a 2014 Infiniti QX60 with around 133,000 km. When I move from park to drive, there is a small delay before the car actually starts to move, and then it gives a little push. Also, when I go from second to third gear on the road, I feel a jerk, like someone tapped the back of the car. Yesterday the engine sound went up high for a second and then the car caught the gear, which scared me a bit. My brother says the gearbox oil is probably old and I should just change it. My neighbor says it is a software problem and a reset will fix it. A friend at work said never touch the oil on an older gearbox because it can make things worse, and now I have three answers and no idea who is right. I checked under the car with my phone light and saw nothing wet, but I am not sure I would know what to look for. Last night I read a page on to understand how the gearbox works, and I learned that jerking, slipping and delayed shifts can come from different things, like old fluid, worn parts or even a sensor. That made me feel less scared, but also less sure about guessing. So I started looking for a Reliable Infiniti transmission repair specialist in Musaffah because it is on my way to work and I want someone who tests it first before talking about big costs. I have a few easy questions. Is it safe to keep driving to work while it does this, or can it get worse fast? Did anyone here fix this with only an oil change, or did it need more? How do they find the real problem, a road test or a computer check? And how long did your car stay at the workshop, and was the price close to what you expected? Please share your stories, good or bad. Thanks for reading. |
